Is cologne the same as perfume?

Is cologne the same as perfume?

Short answer is no, cologne and perfume are not the same thing

Walk into any department store, and you’ll likely see “cologne” in the men’s section and “perfume” in the women’s. But here’s the truth: these labels have little to do with the actual scent and more to do with marketing.

In reality the words 'Cologne' and 'Perfume are just different terms for fragrances.

Perfumes tend to have a much higher concentration of oils, which makes it last much longer and project much better.

Cologne (also known as Eau de Cologne) generally has 2-4% oil

Perfume (also known as Eau de Parfum) generally has around 20-30% oil
